CA125: The Silent Signal—Detecting Ovarian Cancer before It Speaks

Cancer Antigen 125 (CA-125) is a glycoprotein biomarker used in the medical field for the detection and management of ovarian cancer. CA-125 is found in higher concentrations in the blood of women with ovarian cancer; its applications extend beyond cancer detection, as high levels may also be found in various non-cancerous conditions.

Clinical Significance of CA-125

CA-125 plays an important role in diagnosing and managing diseases, including:

The most common method for assessing CA-125 levels is a blood test.

Commonly used methods to detect CA-125 levels in laboratories include electrochemiluminescence (ECLIA), Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA), Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) and Radioimmunoassay (RIA).
